inspired action on & off the yoga mat

Sitting here now, in this moment, the sky is a gorgeous, crystal clear, shade of blue. The wind is blowing and I see large and small trees dancing back and forth. Leaves are beginning to fall to the earth. The once vibrant green grass is slowly making it's transition to fall.

And so it is....

The fall season is a beautiful time for both letting go and also taking inspired action. We only have to look to nature to see this. The trees are shedding what isn't necessary for the winter season. Animals are making preparations for hibernating during the winter months.

The yoga practice teaches us how to take inspired action both on and off the yoga mat. Before we go into hibernation mode I want to invite you to think of a project that you identified as important this year. Something you wanted to learn, or get back to. Some inspired change you wanted to make or a new habit you wanted to cultivate. Somewhere along the way, you forgot about this, got off track, or didn't carve out the time (or all the above!).

Grab a piece of paper or your journal and write down a list of action steps you need to take for one project. We explored this exercise at my recent retreat at Shaker Village, using a mind map for the project.

Speaking of Shaker Village, look at what a beautiful weekend we shared::
I just adore my retreat at Shaker Village and if you missed this one, good news......I've got one scheduled for January. Hello New Year! Details will be coming soon.

Other ways you can connect to the energy and rhythm of the fall season::
  • Focus your attention more on your exhalations.
  • Spend some time decluttering around your house or office space.
  • Make a list of "things" you want to let go of. This can include people, habits and experiences.
  • Do a yoga practice that is grounded with a slow and steady flow.
  • Spend five minutes in a seated forward fold.
  • Drink lots of hot liquids.
  • Attend our deep peace restorative yoga workshop on Friday!
Sending a big smile and refreshing breaths to you. May your day unfold with beauty and ease.

Birds that remind me of Nico's presence

Mini moments of laughter
Mini moments of healing
Mini moments of sorrow
Mini moments of bonding
Mini moments of surprise

Landing back at home from a week at the beach with family
where we
stuffed the car and stuffed ourselves with cinnamon rolls
wrote names of loved ones
lost ones
in the sand.

Decorated a cheap tree
drank expensive wine
Lived out old traditions
and created new ones too

A recording of Joe reading
A Night Before Christmas
little ones, big ones
donning Christmas Eve jammies

Exchanged gifts with a smile on our face
tears in our eyes.
Catchphrase for the big kids
Mariocart for the lil and big kids
searched for seashells
sang Silent Night
watched the sun set
and walked under the moon.

Remembered Joe & Nico with
candles and ashes
altars
ornaments
gifts
and "you'll shoot your eye out" t-shirt

Whispered prayers to the wind
let our worries wash out to the sea
Felt sadness in the air
while creating space for
hope & joy.

As the year is drawing to a close I'm holding close to me the the mini many moments of healing and joy from the past week. Feeling deep gratitude that we had this week to simply be together on a beautiful island.

Hoping you can take a moment
take a breath
and revisit all that was and is your holiday season.

should i go to yoga?

I was thinking this on my drive hOMe last night after prenatal yoga.

In the hours/minutes leading up to class I debated going. I was in a bit of a cranky mode. And sometimes when you're in a cranky mode some part of you wants to linger longer for some crazy reason.

Should I go to yoga? I asked myself. Over and over.

Conversation with myself sounded like this....

"Do I reallllly want to go? I did yoga already this morning at home. Do I realllly need to go? Gosh, traffic is gonna be bad when I leave. What if my belly starts growling during class? My appetite is on overdrive these days. I'll probably have to go to the bathroom like 9,000 times. Do I reallllly want to do that? Or just go home and get cozy on my chaise lounge? Hmmmmmm."

Ultimately I decided I didn't want to stay in cranky town. What I wanted was to feel a mental shift. I wanted to spend some time with myself and with yogababy.

And you know what.....

My belly didn't growl.
I didn't have to go to the bathroom even one time.
Traffic wasn't crazy driving home.

Most importantly, I felt tons better.
I felt more at peace.
The pieces of me felt more whole, like pieces of a puzzle had been put back together.

Body, mind, heart, yogababy.....
All better integrated.

Not a surprise to me, but a wonderful realization in that moment.

Then I realized, not once can I ever recall leaving a yoga class feeling worse than when I started.
(Actually there was that one time years ago at a gym, but that was totally my own doing. That's it. Promise)

Has there ever been a time you left a class feeling like you shouldn't have gone? Or left feeling worse than when you started?

weekend yoga fun

Please excuse the randomness of these photos! The Blogger App has a mind of it's own.

Yesterday was filled with lots of yoga awesomeness. I taught class at 9:00 at the newly opened Lululemon.

Such. A. Delight.

Jenny Wiseman  manager/yoga extraordinaire) has simply done a fantastic job. I love the space and the yoginis that came out for class were just the loveliest. There were some very familiar faces, such as the cute yoga gals I snapped photos of above. Some new faces. Some I hadn't seen in a long time. And five women who came out and took their very first class. Loved the mixed group!

I only had a few minutes to look at all the yoga merchandise before skipping off to the studio to meet with the treehouse teachers. Loved seeing all the smiling yogis streaming out the studio and off to enjoy their Saturday. Word was that AnneDean taught a superb class. Of course she did!

I met with the teachers for over an hour and we have some new and exciting things coming up for the local yogis......think new classes, a challenge, workshops, and yoga teacher training (yep, it's coming back to Lex!).

After our meeting concluded we rolled up our sleeves, got the broom, and cleaning goodies out and took to give the studio a nice deep clean. It felt pretty awesome having these gals that love yoga and teaching at the studio, chatting, laughing, catching up, all while cleaning. I am blessed to have people like them on my team. Forever thankful.

And check out the cute boys frolicking in the studio. Cute, eh?! Those yoga rock stars belong to Liz, a dear student and friend.

As I drove home I couldn't help but smile the whole way.

Big thanks for all those who helped put that smile on my face. :)

how to be a light - thoughts on the chick-fil-a fiasco

Seems that everybody has an opinion these days. It only takes about two seconds on Facebook for me to see that.  From the upcoming election, to the Chick-Fil-A fiasco, to Shawn Johnson being photographed with Ronald McDonald.

Segregation is running rampant these days.
I see so much "us against them".
They are bad. I/we are good.

It's making my head spin.
And my heart heavy.

I shared this with Andy over breakfast. At home, I take the dogs for a walk and I got all weepy just thinking about it.

It would be easy for me to throw my opinion into the mix. To make my own judgments about those judging others. I've had to stop myself from "sharing" a photo on Facebook that would "make" them see how absurd this is. But I know that wouldn't work for me.

So instead I'm seeking a solution. I'm emailing mentors. I'm connecting to my own truth. I'm looking for my own answers about how I can create positive change in the world while maintaining my own peace and sanity.

At my life coaching training with Grace we explored a different commitment each day. On day 14 this was it.....

"I commit to being the resolution or solution that is needed: seeing what is needed in the world as in invitation to become that which is required."

Questions we asked include:

Where am I complaining about something, but taking no action?

Where am I wishing something would change, but making no new commitment?

How could I be the resolution in this situation?

It's easy for all of us to sit back and throw stones.
It's much harder for all of us to authentically ask these questions.
Then take action.

And I haven't been able to fully answer these questions. I'm not perfect.
But for the moment I feel more peace in my heart for noticing where it is that I am casting blame and judgments while getting curious about how I can find a win-win resolution.

Just while ago I was laying in my bed and seeking answers on this heavy heavy subject. Across my room I see the words by Neal Donald Walsch taped to my mirror. They seem perfect for today. May they resonate with you in some small way.

How to Be a Light

Embrace every circumstance,
own every fault,
share every joy,
contemplate every mystery,
walk in every man's shoes,
forgive every offense (including your own),
heal every heart,
honor every person's truth,
adore every person's God,
protect every person's rights,
preserve every person's dignity,
promote every person's interests,
provide every person's needs,
presume every person's holiness,
present every person's greatest gifts,
produce every person's blessings,
and pronounce every person's future secure in the
assured loved of God.

**May we all be happy, peaceful, and free from suffering.**

my world + this weekend

Welcome Friday.
Welcome Friend.

I've got so much swirling around over here in my head.
And in my heart.

I've got about 19,001 things I want to write about.
Like how I'm still recovering from the yuckiness I picked up in Mexico.
Like how my body feels different.

I want to tell stories about the darker, shadow side of my yoga self.
In particular one story that Andy and I learned a lot from.

I want to tell you how amazed I am by the latest group of yoginis to graduate from my 200 hour yoga teacher training. How brilliant they are. How they inspire me to want to be a better teacher. I want to tell you about Jen and how she is breaking the mold and chasing her heart's desires.

I want to tell you how fantastic the completion of my life coaching training was. How awesome it was to be part of a beautiful, like minded group that's dedicated creating and living a life by their design. I want to tell you how this time has rocked my world in ways I'm still waking up to.

I want to tell you about the push/pull I feel about diving into coaching. How excited I am. How primed I am. How I really do believe I'm made for this and how I've already been doing this thing called coaching through my teaching and writing (thank you Mia for shining a light on that).

I want to tell you about all the ideas I have for Barefoot Works, the treehouse. And how thankful I am for the awesome teachers I am blessed to have supporting me and our students at said treehouse.

I want to tell you about the cowboy boots I want to buy.
New dishes I want to replace.
New dreams that are coming true.
Adventures Andy and I are planning.
And our dogs. How cute are they?

It's a lot.

Instead I want to share something else I'm pumped about.
The manual I had printed.
The pink binder and new gel pens I just bought.

And the fact that I get to participate in a training this weekend led by a fave,
Miss Leeann Carey.

Leeann will be teaching our Saturday group class at 9:15. Hip, hip, hooray!
The Sunday 10:30 class is canceled.
Sunday 4:00 class is on, subbed by Laura Whitaker.

You can still join in on the fun with Leeann. Here are some deets:
Each segment (descriptions below) is $59 and are as follows:
Friday: 5pm -9pm
Sat: 11am - 3pm or 4pm - 8pm (these are adjusted times from our typical schedule)
Sun: 9am - 1pm or 2pm -6pm

I highly recommend Friday for sure and Saturday. If you take only Sunday then you will have missed all of the foundational information from Friday. Leeann will probably end a bit early on Sunday so the 2nd Sunday segment is not recommended.

You can register for the segments on our website or simply show up a little early tomorrow and pay Leeann when you are there.

Friday, 5 - 9pm
Observation Skills - This includes learning how to look at your students using the propping, collapsing and yielding metric, form and function rule, range of motion.
Inquiries - Proprioception test and breathing patterns.
Physio-emotional assessment tools.

Saturday, 9 – 1pm
Understanding which pose best teaches us about a specific condition.
Pose breakdown using observation skills with other students and applying strategic prop placement.

Saturday, 2pm – 6pm
Pose modifications to address unique needs for therapeutic results.
Yāpana yoga class.
Sunday, 9 - 1pm
Continue pose breakdown using observation skills with other students and applying strategic prop placement.
Continue pose modifications to address unique needs for therapeutic results.

Sunday, 2pm – 6pm
Breathing: Brhmana and Lanhana and organic explorations in relation to poses and the diaphragm(s) Ethical Inquiries - how to teach who is in front of you.

*Segments are designed for those that want education on a portion of the training and are priced in an affordable manner. Although the total of the 5 segments are less than the $445 rate, in order to receive a certificate of completion you must complete all segments of the training and pay a $150 certification fee on top of the 5 segment total (which comes to a total of $445).

yoga is a religion, yoga is a sex cult, and yoga kills you

First off, I want to remind people of the very first time you walked into a yoga studio to take a class.

Do you recall how you felt? I do. I was nervous. And uncertain. I didn't exactly know what happened in a yoga class. Do they sit and meditate the whole class. Stand on their head. Chant words that will make no sense to me? I had little clue. All I knew was that the universe kept pointing me in that direction. Go. Do. Yoga.

Plus I was having my mid-twenties crisis and it just seemed like a good idea. I thought it might be able to help me calm my wild thoughts and help me center and connect to myself. Of course at the time, those were not the words I used.

It was more like, "Oh shit, my life is falling to pieces. I'm too young for my life to fall to pieces. What the hell am I gonna do? I've gotta figure this out."

When I see and read the articles in The New York Times and I hear that people actually think yoga is a religion it gets to me.

Not because it ruffles all my yogi feathers in a purist way. Ok, ok some if it has ruffled my yoga tail feathers, just a bit. I can't lie.

It's mostly upsetting to me because here we are adding to the list of reasons not to do yoga. As if people need more reasons not to do yoga. In general as a society we already feel less than.

Oh I can't do yoga because I'm too old, too young, too skinny, too fat, too tight, too weak, too conservative, too eccentric....on and on and on.

Now we have people reading these articles and perhaps thinking they'll either break their neck doing yoga or get lured into a sex cult.

Geez, really?

Yogs is not (and I repeat not) a religion. We have no place of worship. No god or gods we must pray or bow down to. Yoga does not tell you to pray to any certain thing nor person. Yoga actually encourages you to connect to any source that uplifts you. One of the niyamas is "ishvara pranidhana" which is connecting to a higher source energy. Be that source the sun, Jesus, Allah, your lover, whatever. Yoga does not attempt to define what that higher source is. And I love that. Wars break out, people fight, and do all sorts of crazy things in the name of God and love. We get so attached, so righteous about what we believe to be the ultimate truth. Really seems counter-productive to me.

Yes, yoga has deep spiritual roots that are there should one be interested in exploring that. It is not a prerequisite nor a requirement. You can come do yoga to get a nice yoga ass or you can come to connect to spirit. Whatever. It doesn't matter to me. We all have our individual reasons and that is a beautiful thing in and of itself.

Yoga as a sex cult....yes let's explore that one. Appears all this talk stems from the scandal happening around John Friend, founder of Anusara Yoga. If you're curious just Google John Friend Sex Scandal and you'll get more information than you care to read.

First of all, yogis are not super humans free from struggle nor suffering. Yogis are humans. I'm not at all justifying his behavior. Mostly what I'm saying is that when you really think about it, it's not that utterly shocking.

Disappointing? Yes.
Sad? Yes
Shocking? At first yes, upon further inquiry maybe not.

Sex scandals occur all over the place.....business people, family people, politicians, religious leaders, and yes, yogis.

This is a reminder to each of us as a student of yoga. It's not about your teacher. Really, it's not. It's about the wisdom within yoga and You. I get that your yoga teacher can serve as a source of inspiration. Your teacher has been walking the path. Seeking and striving to live a good life and sharing what is true for them. It's not about them. I repeat. If they say it is about them, that's a big red sign. When it starts to feel like your worthiness is based on your teacher and it's more about them then I'd step back and ponder what's truly happening.

Lastly, this idea that "I'd better not do yoga because I might hurt myself."

News flash....I can spill my hot coffee onto my lap and hurt myself. I can slip and fall on the street and hurt myself. I can literally dance my big toenail off and hurt myself (yes still slightly traumatized by that one).

Asanas (the yoga poses) are physical. You can hurt yourself doing anything physical. A.N.Y.T.H.I.N.G.

Both students and teachers have responsibility when it comes to safety in a yoga classroom. We as teachers are looking for signs of students overdoing it and straining. That's why I always say, "If you can't breathe in this pose, don't do it!". I've had conversations with students and essentially said, "I don't think you're ready for this pose."

Students have responsibility. Just because we teach it, doesn't mean you have to do it. Honor your body. Listen deeply. Find your edge in the pose and don't push past it. Be more concerned about your body and pose than your neighbors. How do you know if it's too much?

If you can't breathe you shouldn't be in that pose.
If your mind is freaking out you shouldn't be in that pose.
If it's a pose that requires great strength and you're just not there yet, you shouldn't be in that pose.
If it hurts (and this is more than simply uncomfortable) you shouldn't be in the pose.

Actually when the article by William Broad came out in NYT I felt really good about my method of teaching and the process I lead trainees through in yoga teacher training. I believe it to be wise, safe, and sustainable.

Basically I love yoga. I want everybody to do yoga.

I truly believe that if we all did yoga the world would be a much better place. I do. I believe that deeply, in the core of my being. When I read some things I just want to bang my head against the wall because it seems so unbelievable to me.

Don't believe everything just because you read it or someone told you to believe it. Take it in, try it on, and then choose for yourself. The same thing is true for yoga.

Shew. That was a lot. I shall now step off of the yoga soapbox. Thanks for listening. Or reading.

Have a great day friends.

scenes from sanderling inn

Let me say quickly that my photos here do this place little justice. Now that we've got that behind us let me gush for a few moments about this jewel.

The Sanderling Inn is spread out over 12 acres at the edge of Duck. On one side where the inn and guest rooms are you have the Atlantic Ocean. A stones throw, or a walk across the two lane road you have a few more facilities including a reallllly great spa. On this side you have views of the Corrituck Sound. I had an amazing view of the Sound plus a setting sun yesterday during my massage. Love.ly.

I spent most of my time today reading, writing, and walking the beach. I did go out once to measure distances from the house for yoga teacher training to restaurants, grocery store and so on. After all, doing the prep/planning work for our upcoming intensive yoga teacher training is my whole purpose in being here.

So yes, The Sanderling Inn. Everything has been phenomenal. My room, the food, and the staff? They have been superb. Each person I run across asks me how my stay is going and if I need anything. I love good customer service and they are excelling.

My massage and time at the spa was great. I spent three hours at the spa yesterday between hot tubbing, pool swimming (indoor heated pool, getting my massage then lounging in the "whisper zone" with delish tea (Barney & Sons, a fave) and magazines.

I was out on the beach walking three times today. Once at sunrise, after breakfast, then after lunch. I did yoga in my room then went for "tea time" for what else....more tea. And cookies. I read and wrote in my journal. I sat a while on one side and enjoyed water views of the sound then moved across to other side and enjoyed views of the ocean. Divine.

I went back to the spa tonight to do all the above minus the massage (other yumminess is included in your nightly rate). Ordered room service for the second night in a row (feeling a bit spoiled) and turned the tv on for the first time. To watch what? The Cats game of course. ;)

I'm planning to wake up early tomorrow. Have one more rendezvous with the ocean. Blow Her a kiss, explain I'll be back in over two months with precious yoginis, then hammer down and head back home to The Big Blue House. I could care less about the Superbowl game but I don't want to miss Madonna's performance.

More sharing how this all relates to yoga teacher training next week. I have some more relaxing to do. Love to you all. xoxo

Today's sunrise. Love. Love.Love

Tea time and journaling with a view of the ocean and a cozy fire.

Gift from the sea. One of my walks was a treasure hunt.

Steel cut oats with all the toppings for breakfast plus a great read and time for writing.

love letter to autumn in KY

Dear Autumn in Kentucky,

Thanks to you I've fallen in love with this great state all over again. You have provided a feast for my eyes each and every day since I returned home from Tulum and yoga teacher training.

Returning home from Tulum is usually really hard for me. Time in Tulum is the best medicine for my heart and soul. Upon returning home I am prone to emotional outbursts and general symptoms of crankiness and occasional brattiness. Not pretty. But true.

This fall season, as in the one I've gotten to revel in over the past week is simply beyond words.

Every day I see a new tree standing, donning the most amazing of colors. I try to capture the magic by snapping a photo. I find your beauty cannot be totally caught nor replicated in any picture.

I find myself doing things more slowly so I can enjoy you more fully. Driving and walking I look around in amazement. Amazed by the bluest of skies. Amazed by the colors I see, shades of orange, red, yellow, gold, and green. You are making it easy for me to walk slowly and savor the sights.

I've been amazed by the naked tree proudly standing, baring it's bones, it's limbs that grow in all directions. It stands next to the dazzling tree donning bright red leaves. Each equal seekers of light. Reminding me that beauty comes in a variety of sizes, shapes, and colors. Each deserving of the goodness that comes from simply being a participant in this earth party.

You, KY autumn have been the exact thing I needed in returning home. You have been medicine for my heart and soul. I love you as far as the moon and stars. I love you as close as the leaves of the trees in my yard I can touch.

xoxo,
sharon

mexico, mama, mentors & a oh sh*t moment

I'm leaving for Mexico tomorrow!! That's my packing area above.

Tomorrow.
As in departing Lexington at 6:30 a.m.
And arriving in Cancun at 11:00.

Which means I should be in Tulum eating guacamole and drinking a Corona at approximately 2:00.

But the last week friends, leading up the departure.....
Shew.

Talk about the to-dos, the forgets, the shoulda's, coulda's and on and on.
But it's all so,so, so worth it.

I truly can't wait to meet the 12 yogis from all over joining me for 15 fifteen days of oh so intensive yoga teacher training.
Last year I posted nearly every day on the blog I'm hoping to be pretty consistent with this again. And now with my new fancy pants iPod that has the "blogger" app, posting photos should be a breeze.

Speaking of iPods, this one I've had less than a month and love, love, love, mostly because I'm snapping photos left and right, you know the one?

Well Mama Alice and I were getting pedicures today. I sat in the big, cozy, massage my back chair while a sweet sould rubbed down my feet. My iPod is in hand so I could snap photos of course.

About three minutes in my iPod slides off my lap and into the big basin of warm, sudsy water.

"Oh shit", I say, clearly loud enough that everyone getting their feet rubbed on could hear. I fish out my iPod quickly.

Someone says, "Quick turn it off." The poor gal rubbing my feet hands me a dry towel and I wrap it up like a lil baby.

I sit for a moment and ponder all the music that will not likely make it to Mexico. Nor the podcasts that I just downloaded this morning for the flight. Oh well. It is what it is.

I am surprised at how quickly I regroup. And actually let it go.

On a happy note the kind folks at the Apple store replaced my iPod for free. Happy. Happy. Happy. And I now have a new synced up iPod ready for my adventures. Plus my toenails are a pretty purple. See in the photo above? My right toenail that I danced off in May is making a reappearance. Thank god. I've missed her.

I have so much that I want to say but I still have packing to do.

Like how amazed I am by Andy and his insane committment in scraping, sanding, priming, and painting our house. It's crazy really. And inspring too. I keep asking to him, "Is this your yoga? Is this your meditation?"

He mostly looks at me like I'm crazy and goes pack to painting. He's like the Karate Kid.

And Mama Alice is in her third week of being in Lextown for treatment. She's rockin' on. Yet I know this is such a challenge for her. The radiation treatment is catching up with her. She lost weight last week and it's getting harder for her to eat.

Yet her spirits are good and I know she is THE strongest woman in my entire world. I've gotten a lot more quiet on here as far as sharing. My journal is getting to hear lots on this particular journey.

And I've started my writing class.

Connected with old and new mentors that are giving me such support and inspiration.

Friends, teachers, friends that are hands down the most rockin', thoughtful, and supportive people.

Life feels full no matter which way you turn it, twist it, or dissect it.

Never a dull moment friends, that's for sure.

Blowing kisses and wrapping my arms around you tonight as I prepare to embark on a new journey to my second home....the sweet and sacred land of Tulum.

Tuuuuluuummmm, here I come!

be notorious

Welcome sunny Tuuuuesday!

I snapped the above photo last night in my yoga room. After I long and busy day to running to and from I was excited to listen to the recording from the first class of the Yoga + Writing course that I'm taking.

I was snuggled up in a warm and cozy, teeny tiny yoga room with candles, tea, notebook, pinktop and pen. This weeks session was all about accessing and connecting to the powers and goodness of Ganesha.

I write in my notebook (a brand spankin' new notebook might I add)....

Ganesha is an emblem of transition and change. He is very much in this world, not off meditating in a cave or atop a mountain. He is adorable. And accessible! He holds the universe in his belly (I love this)! Wherever he is - he is home.

Details and image from here.

I'm going to print adorable lil Ganesha off and put him in my yoga room to focus and learn from this week. Much to learn here. And just a reminder that the gods and goddesses we explore in the world of yoga are all about seeing and recognizing the different ways they represent us. They are and wonderful ways in which we can learn and grow. And be notorious in our life.

After I listened to the call I had another juicy phone call about a possible new venture I may be embarking on shortly and hold a focus on for next year. All signs are directing me forward but I'm pausing to lean in a lil more. Ponder and process.

I am so flippin' excited that we are now halfway full for the intensive yoga teacher training in NC next spring. I can hardly believe it!

I get the best email from a yogini I've been emailing back and forth with (literally since she's in Seattle). Embarking on yoga teacher training is a BIG deal and I don't recommend entering it lightly. I had given yogini all the advice and input I could. At some point we decide to leap, or we decide to stay put.

She's clearly been keeping her eyes, ears, and heart open. I got this in part of message from her:

So I'm not much into superstition, but today my last 4 words in an online Scrabble game were Y, O, G, and A. After I finished my game, I got into my car, and was stopped at a stoplight behind a car with North Carolina license plates. (this is all true) I couldn't ignore this so. . . .Sign me up! What do I do next? :)

Amazing!

Jump.
Leap.
Risk it.
Be notorious.

i'm thinking....

I'm thinking that if I plan and play my cards just right I can spend a full two months on the beach next year. Yes two whole months, part work, part play. Yay. Am I the only one planning out 2012?

I'm thinking it's about time I order new yoga pants. And these folks are the ones that have a huge selection AND petites for the shorty yoginis like me. :)

I'm thinking about the yoga goodness this week: an eight week meditation class that begins on Wednesday and Sarah's workshop on Friday, the first day of fall. Perfect.

I'm thinking about roadtrips. One with Andy to Cleveland area for a wedding (yay a wedding!!) and one with my BFF. BFF and I are overdue as the last one we took was a long and mostly miserable roadtrip when I moved back from TX. I don't even think that one really counts.

I'm thinking of all things yoga taking place at that amazing beach house above come next April. Excited for me and the yoginis signed up so far. Yip!

I'm thinking about the online yoga AND writing course I signed up for. How I debated if I should sign up for "one more online course". I've certainly been known to sign up in the heat of the moment, then not fully participate. Ooops. But this one, it's two of my fave things combined and I'm super excited. It begins in a couple of weeks.

I'm thinking about seeing friends I don't get to see. Dreaming of rendezvousing to Las Vegas and meeting two special gals (one in Houston, one in Seattle).

I'm thinking of a perfect upcoming yoga teacher training in Tulum. Ok, I'll settle for a little less than perfect, but not much less.

I'm thinking of fall flavors, pumpkin lattes and butternut squash.

I'm thinking that it's kinda crazy that Barefoot Works is now rockin' it's sixth year as a studio, eighth year as a yoga biz. Crazy. Cool.

I'm thinking about being the blending master and making nutritious drinkable meals for my Mama.

I'm thinking about my fave holiday of all, Thanksgiving. Teaching a donation class on Thanksgiving then going home to celebrate with family, eat too much, pretend to watch football, and walk up the mountain behind the house.

I'm thinking about another silent retreat to Cedars of Peace where I will make a fire, eat at the small desk, peer out the window into the woods, walk in the snow, cry, celebrate, and bring closure to the year.

How about you, what are you thinking about?
